SAT No. SAT This man does not know this baby. He's in another country, SAT thousands of miles away. And, each night, he watches a SAT different baby. SAT SAT Wake Up, Baby! is an atmospheric journey into the sometimes SAT unsettling world of "reassuring" technology. SAT SAT The media storm that surrounded the 1932 'baby Lindbergh SAT kidnap', and the subsequent trial, planted the fear of child SAT abduction into the public imagination. In 1937, Zenith SAT produced the Radio Nurse, the world's first baby monitor, SAT designed to fit well into an elegant sitting room, with a SAT transmitting unit in baby's nursery. SAT SAT The Radio Nurse was a tiny private radio station, casting SAT baby's cries onto the electromagnetic seas. To feel the SAT presence of baby in whichever room you occupied while she SAT stayed safe in the nursery was a kind of magic - wonderfully SAT reassuring to a couple in their big house. But it was prone SAT to interference. You might hear things other than baby: a SAT police radio, a pilot preparing to land, or even someone SAT else's baby, picked up from a similar device nearby. SAT SAT The problem of stray interference went away in the digital SAT age. The baby monitor, now with pictures as well as sound, SAT became wi-fi-enabled. In recent years, there have been SAT several well-reported cases of devices being hacked. A SAT couple in Ohio heard "Wake up, baby. Wake Up, baby! SAT screaming from their baby's monitor. Someone had taken SAT control of the wi-fi device across the internet. WB Yeats was born 150 years ago. He is still a vital SUN presence in the cultural and public life of Ireland and the SUN wider world - his poetry is read all over the globe. In SUN Dublin, poet and broadcaster Theo Dorgan investigates the SUN eternal appeal of his art, wth readings of the poems by Jim SUN Norton. SUN SUN His early poems, drawing on the faery tales of ancient SUN Ireland, are often dismissed as whimsy. But Paula Meehan, SUN Ireland's current Professor of Poetry, argues that SUN throughout his life magic was crucial to Yeats. SUN SUN At The Abbey, created by Yeats and Lady Gregory as a SUN national theatre, its director Fiach Mac Conghail reveals SUN how this dreamer was a practical man of the theatre, and a SUN modernist, absorbing dramatic styles from all over the SUN world. SUN SUN Declan Kiberd, the leading Yeats scholar, teases out the SUN complexities of Yeats's character: fervent for independence, SUN yet no democrat; a mythologiser of women who could not SUN establish happy relationships; a lyric poet with steely SUN ambition; the Irishman who failed to learn the language, SUN spent much of his time in England, and never went to the SUN pub. Out of such contradictions Yeats wrote some of the most SUN magnificent poetry in English, not just of the 20th century, SUN but ever. SUN SUN The historian Diarmaid Ferriter shows that the poet, 'a SUN 60-year-old smiling public man', was very effective as a SUN senator. Catriona Crowe, of the National Archives of SUN Ireland, tells Theo what these reveal of his place in the SUN national memory. And Ireland's president, Michael D. SUN Higgins, himself a poet, ponders what Yeats would think of SUN the Ireland he dreamed into being, and the place of poetry SUN in politics today. SUN SUN Producer Julian May. SUN Redl was an officer in the Austro Hungarian intelligence SUN service in the 1890s. His homosexuality made him a target SUN for blackmail and persecution. Perhaps surprisingly, SUN Osborne's play is not only a sweeping epic but also an angry SUN plea for tolerance and a condemnation of hypocrisy that is SUN as relevant now as it was to him in 1965. SUN SUN The play has been credited with helping to bring an end to SUN official censorship in the UK. SUN SUN A Patriot for Me centres on an ambitious rising star in the SUN Austrian army, in the decadent society of SUN turn-of-the-century Austria, whose journey of self-discovery SUN leads to blackmail, betrayal and murder.
